The Jena is a flat, in black leather, with one idea on it: a woven leather square sitting at the front of the shoe where a buckle or a bow would usually go.
Everything else is deliberately quiet. The upper is leather throughout and the outsole is rubber, a combination that survives pavements better than it survives being ignored in a cupboard. It is made in Spain, and it is weatherproof, which is not a claim most flats can make. The shape runs narrow, so ordering half a size up is the safer choice.
Flats live or die on how easily they slot into what you already wear. This one goes under tailored trousers on a weekday and under faded jeans on a Saturday, and the woven detail is the reason it does not look like a compromise in either.
